Aerogenesis Aviation Academy
DGCA Air Navigation Classes in Bangalore & Online
Air Navigation is taught as three parts: general navigation, radio navigation and air instruments. Take it on its own for ₹60,000, or as part of the ₹1.8 lakh ground-school package.
Fee and format
Air Navigation (General Navigation, Radio Navigation & Air Instruments) costs ₹60,000. It is one of the four components of the ₹1.8 lakh package, alongside Air Regulations, Air Meteorology and RTR Parts 1 and 2.
Classes run in the daytime, online or in the classroom at our HBR Layout centre in Bengaluru. Ask admissions for the current timetable. Tax treatment, external examination charges and the duration of learning-material access must be confirmed in your written enrolment quotation.
What Air Navigation covers
| Topic | What it includes |
|---|---|
| General navigation | The earth, latitude and longitude, great circles and rhumb lines; map projections and aeronautical charts; direction, variation and deviation; distance, speed and time; dead reckoning and the triangle of velocities; track, heading, drift and groundspeed; flight planning, fuel and time calculations. |
| Radio navigation | Radio-wave basics; NDB/ADF, VOR, DME and ILS; radar principles; satellite navigation. Position fixing from radio aids and reading the cockpit indications. |
| Air instruments | The pitot-static system and pressure instruments (altimeter, airspeed indicator, vertical speed indicator); gyroscopic instruments (artificial horizon, directional gyro, turn coordinator); the magnetic compass and its errors. |
How Air Navigation is taught
Navigation is learned by working problems, so practice volume matters. Students practise on the Aerogenesis CPL question bank (8,798 DGCA-style questions with worked solutions across 202 chapters, shared across subjects), and the learning system adds chapter-wise notes, video lessons and weekly progress tests. Worked solutions show each step of a calculation, so you can see where an answer went wrong.
Classes are led by pilot mentors, including Gp Capt Saideep Lall (Retd), an IAF experimental test pilot with 4,000+ hours on 13 aircraft types, and Capt Vidhi Sharma, an active Airbus A320 captain. Navigation is explained the way pilots use it: planning a flight, monitoring it and correcting a deviation.
Check which instruments and calculators DGCA currently permits in the examination hall in the current Pariksha notices.
A worked example
Question. After flying 40 nautical miles you find you are 2 nautical miles off your planned track. What is your track error, using the 1-in-60 rule?
Working. The rule says 1 NM off track after 60 NM flown is about 1°. Track error ≈ (2 ÷ 40) × 60 = 3°.
An original practice example, not an official DGCA question and not a prediction of an examination paper.
Who this is for
- Candidates completing their papers in stages.
- Candidates who want to strengthen one subject before an examination attempt.
- Students who studied other subjects elsewhere and want this one with pilot mentors.
What a student says
“Solid test series and great question banks. Commercial pilot training here is well organized and focuses on both theory and practical learning. Really enjoyed my experience.”
