Aerogenesis Aviation Academy
DGCA Air Meteorology Classes in Bangalore & Online
Air Meteorology covers how weather forms, what it does to an aircraft and how to read the reports. Take it on its own for ₹40,000, or as part of the ₹1.8 lakh ground-school package.
Fee and format
Air Meteorology costs ₹40,000. It is one of the four components of the ₹1.8 lakh package, alongside Air Regulations, Air Navigation and RTR Parts 1 and 2.
Classes run in the daytime, online or in the classroom at our HBR Layout centre in Bengaluru. Ask admissions for the current timetable. Tax treatment, external examination charges and the duration of learning-material access must be confirmed in your written enrolment quotation.
What Air Meteorology covers
| Topic | What it includes |
|---|---|
| The atmosphere | Composition and layers; the International Standard Atmosphere; temperature, pressure and density and how they change with height. |
| Wind and circulation | Pressure systems, the forces that drive wind, global circulation, local winds and jet streams. |
| Moisture, clouds and precipitation | Humidity, stability and instability, cloud types and how they form, precipitation, fog and visibility. |
| Air masses and fronts | Warm, cold and occluded fronts and the weather that goes with each. |
| Hazards to flight | Turbulence, wind shear, icing, thunderstorms, volcanic ash and reduced visibility. |
| Reports, forecasts and charts | METAR, TAF, SIGMET and significant-weather charts, with decoding practice. |
| Regional climate | Weather patterns relevant to Indian operations, including the monsoon. |
How Air Meteorology is taught
Meteorology rewards pattern recognition. Students work through the Aerogenesis CPL question bank (8,798 DGCA-style questions with worked solutions across 202 chapters, shared across subjects), and the learning system adds chapter-wise notes, video lessons and weekly progress tests. Decoding METAR and TAF reports is practised repeatedly until it becomes quick.
Classes are led by pilot mentors, including Gp Capt Saideep Lall (Retd), an IAF experimental test pilot with 4,000+ hours on 13 aircraft types, and Capt Vidhi Sharma, an active Airbus A320 captain. Weather is taught as a pilot meets it: the go or no-go decision, the diversion and the alternate.
A worked example
Question. In the International Standard Atmosphere, sea-level temperature is 15°C and temperature falls by about 1.98°C per 1,000 ft in the troposphere. What is the ISA temperature at 10,000 ft?
Working. 15 − (10 × 1.98) = 15 − 19.8 = −4.8°C, so about −5°C.
An original practice example, not an official DGCA question and not a prediction of an examination paper.
Who this is for
- Candidates completing their papers in stages.
- Candidates who want to strengthen one subject before an examination attempt.
- Students who studied other subjects elsewhere and want this one with pilot mentors.
What a student says
